The Cow’s Boy
The Cow’s Boy—The Making of a Real Cowboy
“My name is Luna. I’m a Black Angus heifer calf.”
So begins Luna’s story. Set on a cattle ranch in the American West surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Luna narrates her story about the nine-year old boy who adopts and takes cares of her from birth. She relates what a young cowboy’s life is like on a cattle ranch—his chores throughout the seasons and the fun he creates along the way—all of which contribute to the making of a real cowboy.
The cowboy is an American icon, a symbol of independence and the American frontier. However, today’s cowboys and cowgirls, who work on small family ranches and farms are struggling to survive. This story joyfully celebrates the life of a young cowboy.
